Title: Fire in Frost
Author: Alicia Rades
Genre: YA Paranormal

CRYSTAL FROST tells herself she isn't crazy, but sane people don't see ghosts. As her psychic abilities manifest, Crystal discovers there's a much bigger story behind her mother's Halloween-themed shop than she ever realized. Now blessed with the ability to see into the future, witness the past, and speak with the dead, Crystal must use these tools to save those who have come to her for help.

But that's not an easy task between learning how to use her abilities, trying to hide them, and uncovering the secrets her loved ones have been keeping from her. Add blackmail to the list of things Crystal never thought would happen to her, and you basically have her sophomore year covered. Will she learn to control her abilities in time, or will the whole school learn of her secret before she's ready to reveal it?

I voluntarily read and reviewed a free copy of Fire in Frost. A big thank you to the author and Lady Amber's Reviews & PR for this amazing series!

For Crystal Frost, she always thought that her mother's little psychic shop was just a fake, little did she know that she too inherited the psychic genes - psychic meaning being able to predict the future, look into the past and actually see ghosts , but how is it possible? Crystal was a skeptic, but when Olivia, her dead classmate appeared to her times and times again, it was too real to be mere imagination. When people die, their spirits wander between realms, stuck in between because they have unfinished businesses. Olivia needed Crystal's help, how could she not when denying her gifts will put someone in danger?

What a great start to a paranormal series! I could relate well to the Frost family because I have psychics in my lineage too - no it's not as fun as it seemed, spirits and ghosts are terrifying! Plus, Asians normally would have a superstitious upbringing, so this novel was really on point. I haven't been reading much YA (I guess I outgrew the age), but it really reminded me of what I loved about YA paranormal. I love how the story focused more on the mystery and not much on the romance, although there will be budding romance in the second book.

The book started off strongly with a hint of mystery and creepiness, as the story progresses, we see how Crystal blossoms into a psychic who has full realization of her abilities, yet still learning how to use and control them. I also really liked Crystal's mum because she was such a great guidance to Crystal, I always love a supportive family character in books! I have to say the first book was the perfect intro to a ghostly series, if you like the Body Finder series by Kimberly Derting, be sure to check this out!

The only flaw I could find was the slight lack of suspense. The pace was steady and the story was well written, however I was looking forward to plot twists that I think could really give the overall plot a boost. It was rather predictable at times and that's just a minor setback for myself. On the same note, although the story wrote that Crystal has 2 best friends, however I did not feel the bond between Crystal and Derek to be significant enough to be considered as BFF's as compared to Crystal and Emma. Derek felt more like a side than a secondary character - but I got a feeling we'll see more of him in the next book.

Overall: 4/5 stars. Great start of a paranormal series for you YA ghost lovers. If you're into seance and fortune reading, this is just the book for you!

Title: Desire in Frost
Author: Alicia Rades
Genre: YA Paranormal

CRYSTAL FROST recently discovered she can see ghosts and predict the future, yet the mystery of Hope Ross's abduction still haunts her dreams. While traveling to Florida for Thanksgiving, Crystal's visions of Hope only grow stronger. She enlists the help of her soon-to-be step-cousin Robin, a decision that complicates the entire picture—and her feelings. Can she figure out what happened to Hope and learn why Robin is so guarded, or will her newfound abilities fail her?

Where Book 1 was lacking in suspense, the author definitely compensated for that in book 2. I was truly amazed at how the story took an amazing turn and we are once again on the hunt for truth, only this time it is for a young innocent child, Hope who was first introduced in Crystal's dream in book 1.

It is definitely recommended to read Fire in Frost to get a full understanding of how Crystal discovered her gifts and also a little bit background on Hope's link to the second book. I love how the author continued the story from where it was left off in the first book, it was sort of like watching an episode of Ghost Whisperer, teenage version.

I've mentioned previously that I love Crystal's mom, and she proved herself as the best-mother again in book 2 with her kind understanding and support. Reading how Crystal matures into her gifts with the guidance of her mom was empowering, I love the Frosts!

On the other hand, we have Robin *coughs*, who quickly became another of my favorite character. You'd just have to find out why!

Fans of the Body Finder series and the Darkest Power series, you'd definitely want to check this out!

Title: Inspired by Frost
Author: Alicia Rades
Genre: YA Paranormal

Crystal Frost has grown accustomed to the supernatural, but months of passive paranormal activity have left her believing her mother’s wedding will be a breeze. That changes when a ghost named Melissa shows up in Crystal’s dressing room while she’s picking out her maid of honor dress. Crystal takes on this new psychic mission without question, immediately determined to save Sage, the girl Melissa warned her about. But how do you save a girl from a deadly fate when you don’t know how she’s going to die?

Such an evolution from book 1, I just cannot believe how far Crystal has grown with her powers! The author took the suspense up another notch when she introduced teen depression and murder into the mix. With Crystal's growing psychic abilities, her quest to save lives proved to be increasingly challenging, especially when you are trying to save someone you don't even know.

Alicia Rades definitely outdid herself with the third book, I was emotionally and mentally invested in the story. I just couldn't use words to describe how much this series surprised me, especially since I've outgrown the YA age.

If you love a dose of suspense with a taste of paranormal, this is just the book for you.
