Not in My Wildest Dreams
McKenna Series #2
Author: Jamie Hollins
Releasing Date: Feb 7th, 2017

It really sucks to be in love with someone who sees you as nothing more than a friend. Darcy Owens knows this from personal experience. From the moment she met Sean McKenna as a wary ten-year-old, he’s owned her heart. So when he asks for her help with an important construction project, she can’t say no.

Building a boutique hotel on Boston’s waterfront is a career-making opportunity, and Sean needs Darcy’s interior design expertise. She’s incredibly talented, and there is no one he trusts more. He knows he can always count on his childhood friend, but doesn’t know why he’s thinking about her tight skirts and blue eyes instead of tight deadlines and blueprints.

When Sean and Darcy’s excitement about their work turns into an entirely different kind of excitement, it’s a sexy surprise. But they soon realize that building a new relationship is more challenging than building a new hotel, especially when life-long habits and old insecurities create cracks in the foundation.

Thanks so much for having me on Dreamland Teenage Fantasy, Natasha. I’m so happy to be here today!

Sometimes when I read a book, I can see a character so clearly from the author’s description and from how the character behaves. But sometimes, my mind can’t grab onto the way a character looks. It’s like they exist, but my brain refuses to see their face or something.

When I wrote my first book, THE BEST PART OF ME, the hero (Ewan) was crystal clear in my head but it took me forever to visualize my heroine (Quinn). For this second book, NOT IN MY WILDEST DREAMS, Sean and Darcy practically played out this entire book in my mind like I was watching a movie. Visually they were so complete.

I have a picture of Ryan Kwanten, the actor who plays Jason Stackhouse on HBO’s True Blood, posted on my bulletin board. He’s got some crazy, messy hair, and he’s looking back into the sun with a carefree expression on his face. That’s so Sean. So I’ve always pictured Sean with the face of Ryan Kwanten and the physique of Chris Evans (Captain America).

If you want to know what Darcy Owens looks like, check out the cover for Duncan Alderson’s Magnolia City. That’s Darcy. I actually had a pretty clear idea of what she looked like in my head, and then one day I was walking through my local Barnes and Noble and saw Alderson’s book. It literally made me stop in my tracks because it was Darcy staring back at me.

I voluntarily read and reviewed a free ARC of this book provided by Lisa @ Tasty Book Tours and the author. Your email came to me like a godsend!

When I received the approved widget for the book, it was 2am and I'm finally making my way to bed. Of course, the email has to arrive at such ungodly hour, but it might as well woke me up from my sleepy haze because I dove right into it with full attention.

It's the kind of book that sticks out of your schedule and tempts you with the promise of a good read, just like Sean McKenna.

My stomach hurts from laughing too hard at Sean McKenna's jokes, he's the kind of guy that puts the fun into the word funny with his blatant jokes and quirky sense of humor, and Darcy is the yin to his yang. I've been waiting for this book forever (technically since October, but the months are agonizing!) and it was what I hoped it would be, I'm getting the girly hormonal vibes!

With someone as gorgeous and outspoken like Darcy, it is rather unbelievable that she still is a 28 year old virgin, but I find it incredibly sweet that she has been saving herself for her childhood crush despite how oblivious he was. I really liked the element of romance in the story, as always I love relationships that stemmed out of friendships because it is much more realistic and Darcy and Sean are just the perfect representation.

The story might appeared to be a little cliche, but Hollins' writing was engaging and kept you going. I might have the urge to mentally punch Sean a couple of times for being so freaking blind, but reading his process of realizing his love for his best friend was the most heartwarming thing ever. I also loved the familial vibes of the book, the secondary characters are all amazing!

If you are in need of a good laugh, you just find yourself the perfect read.

Hillariously good!
