Author: Kristen Hope Mazzola
Genre: Sports Romance, New Adult
Expected Publication Date: October 17th 2016

One accident - a freaking car crash.

That’s all it took to send my brother’s and my life into a tailspin with no end in sight. I was going to be something. I was going to be the best. I had the Olympics in my sights. And it all went to shit in one flash. Brayden wasn’t ready to raise a younger sister when I was thrown into his lap. He had his life and everything going for him. Thankfully, he was still drafted to his dream hockey team. The same one dad played for when we were growing up.

It took time, but I started to get better, started to open up, started skating and even dating again. I even thought I found the perfect guy for me.

Isn’t it funny how guys hit on you when they know you’re not available, but when you’re single they won’t give you the freaking time of day? I guess the game is more fun that way. And for the captain of my brother’s team, that’s exactly what I was. A hat trick is three goals in hockey. Some say three is a crowd and they might be right.

I was Gavin Hayes' unobtainable goal.

I received an ARC copy of Hat Trick in exchange for an honest review. Thank you for the reviewing opportunity!

I had a hard time rating this book because it started off so strong and I really loved it but it went downhill from there. My feelings throughout the book was like a roller coaster, loved it one second and not so the next, so here's the rating system I came up with for the book :-

Starting: 4/5
Pace: 3/5
Climax: 2/5
Overall: 3.5/5

Spring Time Personal Use Regular

1. I find it refreshing that the book was told in a three person POV, namely Brayden, Myla and Gavin, it really helps in connecting to the characters especially when Brayden and Myla are siblings, I really loved the starting of the story where Brayden and Myla coped with the aftermath of the accident, it showed the strength of their siblings bond.

2. Brayden. No denying that he had captured my heart entirely! I really liked how protective he is towards Myla and how he is so good at tolerating Gavin.

3. The starting of the book held so much depth that it was captivating and easy to get into the story!

4. I loved reading books with epilogue and this one was super cute! HEA for sure!

Spring Time Personal Use Regular

1. One thing that gets to me was the pace of the story. It started off so strong and engaging but it stopped right after Gavin and Myla hooked up. Everything was happening so fast it was as if I was fast forwarding the story without even skimming through it.

2. Brayden is my favourite voice in the book but I really wished there was more of him! His presence was dominating at first and I was really hoping to read about how he dealt with the passing of his mother or his relationship with Karla, but all of that was left unresolved as the story shifted from Brayden/Myla to Myla/Gavin. I anticipated a greater resistance seemingly Brayden hated Gavin from first sight and Myla being his baby sister and all, and yet everything just fell flat. Hmm...do I smell a sequel?

3. It was sort of anticlimatic to me. I was looking forward to reading an intense, dramatic scene as the blurb sounded so promising and contributed to the plot build up, buttttt....I wasn't even sure if I was even on the climatic peak.

4. I really do love sports romance (maybe because I was never athletic to begin with :p ) and the hockey games were intense, but it would be great if the author could include more to Myla's journey of recovery and Gavin/Brayden's rivalry.
Overall, it was a fun book to read but rather lacking in character development towards the end. As this is an ARC before final edits and cuts, my review is based on the ARC version I was gifted with. I would love to read about the changes in the published version as the characters tend to grow on you! Great writing style and definitely an enjoyable read!
