Dreamland Book Blog

Feena Casual

"Author of the Month" is a feature that I created to honour some of my favourite authors by featuring their works for an entire month!

This feature will:

  • Run for entire month.
  • On every Sunday of the month (excluding the first week where I will have a blog post introducing and interviewing the author), there will be a blog post dedicated to the author. The content of the blog post is entirely up to the author's choice.
  • The "Author of the Month" button will be displayed in my blog's sidebar during the entire duration.
  • If you have any questions to ask the author(s), you can leave a comment below the blog post or privately message me at natshane94aa@gmail.com.

For the entire month of January, I am proud to feature author M.A. Grant,

Ribeye Marrow Regular

Miama Regular
Marion Audrey Grant is fortunate to live in the rugged beauty of Alaska's Kenai Peninsula. She's believed in happy endings and true love since she was very young. Later in life, the realization that she had stories of her own to tell would lead her to graduate college with majors in Creative Writing and English. Thanks to her husband’s unending support, she now works as a scribe to the intelligent women and wounded heroes who need their stories told.

Hello! Welcome to Dreamland Teenage Fantasy, my name is Natasha and I am so excited to have you guys on my blog today! Whispers to self: Stop squealing! Be professional!

Maya chirps a quick hello before reaching up to brush some of her tightly curled hair behind her ear. She’s flawless in a tight, cream-colored dress and red heels. She leans forward slightly, all eager intensity, clearly used to dominating a stage with her presence.

At her left, broad-shouldered, blond Jake leans back in his chair. He’s in jeans and a t-shirt that boasts his fire department’s crest. His fingers tap lightly against his thigh. The lines of fatigue that normally mar his features ease when he gives Maya an amused look, although a sly glance at her legs changes that amusement to something a little more heated.

Cat’s sitting on Maya’s right. Her long blonde hair is pulled back in a braid and her freckled face glows as she leans against Dallas. With her cut-off shorts and Miller’s Auto Shop polo, she looks more like an intern than the businesswoman who runs the shop.

Tattooed arm wrapped around Cat’s waist, Dallas looks equally relaxed. His dark beard only draws attention to his easy grin. The fingers of his free hand, while callused from his mechanic’s work, brush back and forth over Cat’s elbow.

"Author of the Month" is a new feature that I have recently created to honour my favourite authors who have written some of the best books I have ever read.

This feature will:
  • Run for the entire month.
  • On every Sunday of the month (excluding the first week where I will have a blog post introducing and interviewing the author), there will be a blog post dedicated to the author. The content of the blog post is entirely up to the author's choice.

For the entire month of February, I am proud to feature Laxmi Hariharan, author of the best-selling The Destiny of Shaitan (Bombay Chronicles #1) as Dreamland Teenage Fantasy's author of the month! Laxmi has been a wonderful and humble person to talk with and I am honoured to have the chance to interview her personally besides reading and reviewing her book - Many Lives of Ruby Iyer (read review here).

Without further ado,

Ribeye Marrow Regular

A near life experience told Laxmi Hariharan to write. She never stopped. Laxmi is the creator of Ruby Iyer, and the Amazon bestselling, eLit Gold winner The Destiny of Shaitan (Bombay Chronicles, 1). She has been a journalist with the Independent, and a global marketer with NBCU and MTV. Laxmi also blogs for Huffington Post, among others. London is where she writes. Bombay is what fires her imagination.

Reach her @laxmi | Facebook | blog

The Many Lives of Ruby Iyer is published by Amazon White Glove, through Jacaranda Literary Agency, and paperback is distributed in India through Read Out Loud.

Happy Tuesday!

I am honored to have Krysten on my blog today promoting her latest book, True Colors. This blog tour is hosted by Double Decker Books, stay tuned for interesting goodies to be won!

Tagline 'A little competition can really bring out people’s true colors.'

Blurb

Landry Albright just wants to be one of the interesting girls at school who always have exciting things going on in their lives. She wants to stand out, but also wants to fit in, so she gives in when her two best friends, Ericka and Tori, push her into trying out for a teen reality show modeling competition with them. Landry goes in nervous, but impresses the judges enough to make it to the next round. However, Ericka and Tori get cut and basically "unfriend" her on Monday at school. Landry tries to make new friends, but gets caught up between wanting to be herself and conforming to who her new friends want her to be. Along the way she learns that modeling is nowhere as glamorous as it seems, how to deal with frenemies, a new crush, and that true friends see you for who you really are and like you because of it.

Back Cover

Every day I walked down the sidewalk to school and wished I were one of the interesting popular girls who ran up with exciting news. Just once I’d like to be one of those girls instead of the being the one who didn’t get invited to things because people “forgot” about me.

Landry gets pushed into trying out for the American Ingénue reality show modeling competition with her two best friends. She doesn’t think she stands a chance, but she advances to the next level in the competition and her friends ignore her when they get cut.

Enter the gorgeous Devon, who also makes the first cut and includes Landry in her clique. Devon becomes the perfect best friend, but can their friendship survive the competition?

Landry hopes her big break could come at any moment, but soon sees there’s much more to modeling than getting your hair done and looking pretty. She begins missing out on being with new friends like Ashanti, a girl who truly has Landry’s back. Landry also has the chance to have a boyfriend when she meets a boy named Vladi from another school.

Part of Landry wants to be famous (and have her hair look good for once), but part of her just wants to be accepted. She learns about friendships, being true to yourself, and that a good hair conditioner doesn’t hurt.

Title: A Midsummer Night's Demon
Author: Brenda Sparks
Genre: Paranormal Romance
Tour Host: Lady Amber's Tours

Synopsis:

Daelyn Torres is determined to break free from her over-protective brother. Born a demon, she knows little of the world outside her home and work. A chance blind date promises adventure and perhaps a walk on the wild side. But her night on the town takes a deadly turn when she is gravely injured and left to die. A handsome, mysterious stranger comes to her rescue and brings with him a passion she has never experienced.

A dark guardian sent to investigate a series of missing person cases, vampire Ky Robinson is ready for anything, except the insatiable desire that engulfs him when he meets Daelyn. He senses their destiny is intertwined and vows to do everything in his power to keep her safe. The only problem: demons and vampires go together like fire and ice.

Daelyn never believed in things that went bump in the night but is more than willing to be seduced by the sexy vampire who marks both her body and soul.

Excerpt:

He ghosted behind the couple. Following them on silent feet, staying deep in the shadows of the buildings. Ky noted the way the woman walked as they made their way along the sidewalk. Her legs appeared unsteady, most of her weight supported by the male’s arm around her waist, which seemed strange because she had not consumed all that much alcohol at the bar. Only two glasses of wine, by his count. The agent heard her speaking throughout the night and she had annunciated clearly. Yet now she seemed unsteady, and her words slurred as they left her lips.

She stumbled. Catching on a bit of raised sidewalk, her shoe flew off behind her in Ky’s direction. She turned and looked over her shoulder. When her eyes met his, Ky’s heart hitched in his chest, time froze.
The bronzed skin of her heart-shaped face appeared flawless. Long dark haired flowed around her shoulders with the turn of her head. Her chocolate eyes captured his, holding his gaze. The fall of her lashes broke the spell, creating dark crescents on her delicate cheekbones. Her petite nose led to full, pouty lips that sent a surge of desire through his body. His sure strides faltered under the weight of her beauty. She was a goddess.

And she was in grave danger.

Ky Robinson:

Ky is a powerfully built vampire, with warrior’s body that could have been sculpted by God himself. A handsome male, his face is full but not heavy, with no deep hollows or uncompromising angles, but instead soft lines that blend naturally to form his features. His ice-blue eyes can penetrate a person’s very soul.

He works for a covert agency—his duty, to police his kind. His is a solitary life, one spent on stake-outs and lurking in the shadows. He takes his job seriously, putting honor and duty before all else. Until one night when the Fates intervene and send a sexy demon into his life.

Once he discovers his heartmate, she becomes the center of his universe, his reason for living. And he would do anything to protect her, to be with her.

Daelyn Torres:

Lyn is a sultry demon, with bronzed skin and a pretty heart-shaped face that boosts dark chocolate eyes and a petite nose. Like a Mayan goddess, her full, lush lips and perfect body bring most men to their knees. But it is her feisty personality that wins men’s hearts.

Willing to take on what life brings, she fights for what she wants. Whether taking on evil vampires or her over protective brother, she’s ready, especially when she has a sexy, smart vampire by her side.

Title: Weaver of Dreams
Author: Brenda Sparks
Genre: Fantasy Romance
Tour Host: Lady Amber's Tours

Blurb:

When guidance counselor Maggie O’Connell is plagued by terrible nightmares, she believes stress is the reason for her torment, but she couldn’t be more wrong. Unfortunately for Maggie, in the shadows of her dreams lurks a Dream Stalker who is addicted to the dark emotions produced by her night terrors.

Zane, a Dream Weaver from another dimension, visits Maggie in her nighttime fantasies to discover there is more than just a Dream Stalker after her. As the man of her fantasies becomes real, Maggie’s true nightmare begins.

Excerpt:

Humans had no idea Dream Weavers used what they called mirrors as portals. The reflective glass was a perfect cover to hide what lay within. Looking from the human world, people only saw reflections of themselves and their surroundings. But from the other side the vortex was an entryway from the Dream Weaver world. A threshold he used to enter or see into the human dimension.

This night Zane opted to use it as a window, remaining in his dimension as his eyes scanned the room. He needed to be sure not to alert the Dream Stalker. The negative emotions from the human’s dream came through the portal, making him feel uncomfortable. They coated his energy, wrapped around him like tentacles.

He’d never experienced such strong emotions. They weighed heavily upon his energy, surrounding him. Enticing him. But he pulled back, grateful for once that the only way he could absorb the strong emotions would be to push through into the human dimension and take human form.

His gaze swept the modest bathroom. The walls were painted apartment white, blue towels hung from a bar across from the mirror. He looked down on a utilitarian sink and white counter top. Zane was just about to push through the portal and take his corporeal form when movement from the corner of the room caught his eye. He froze, waiting.

Was this the source of the negative emotions? The Dream Stalker?

Before him appeared a human form wrapped in a white towel. The person stood facing away from the mirror, but Zane knew two things. One, there was no doubt this was a woman. The way the towel hugged her slight curves, conforming to her toned body told him that. And two, this was not one of his kind. He’d have sensed another Dream Weaver immediately which meant she had to be human.
