Despite the chick-ish title of the book, the story proved to be otherwise. I cried a lot throughout this book not just because of the characters' conflicts, but also because of the strong relationship between Conrad and Jeremiah (the two main guy character in the story) with their mum, Susannah. You know how guys are, they don't exactly go around showing off their affection towards their mum, and in return their mum don't exactly go around asking about their whereabouts either. But I could clearly feel the bonds they shared when the story took an unexpected twist and something bad happened to the family. It was heartbreaking to see how the boys grieve for what was going to happen.
Definitely one of the best child/mother relationship I've ever come across! A recommended read for everyone.
