The Book Blogger Test

I stumbled across this tag on Carrie @ The Butterfly Reader blog and she is tagging everyone to join in this fun! I love doing tags because it's so fun answering questions and also reading other people's answers. You might be surprised at how many book-soulmates you are able to find *winks*, so this is why I am doing them! I also created a pic to go with the tag because I absolutely adore designing :p

What are your top 3 book pet peeves?

#1 - Highlighted/Underlined Passages

Call me an OCD, I never appreciated anyone who destroys the book I so carefully upkeep and maintained.

#2 - Stickers on the book covers

It irks me so badly when a bookstore would stick the price tag on the main cover of the book. Hello? Aren't there any less obvious places you can stick it on? Like, the back of the book? I normally wouldn't get so beat up about it, but when the tag's adhesive game is so strong and it ended up leaving strips of white paper behind, that's when I'll go berserk.

#3 - Movie edition book covers

I'm sorry. I don't do that. Ever.

Describe your perfect reading spot.

I'd say the beach but the glare from the sun makes my eyes hurt, so I'll go for a reading corner (soft and furry) with glass windows overlooking a beautiful, greenish forest, soft music playing in the background and a cup of warm milk/tea/coffee in my hand - yeap, that's not easy to come by.

Three Book Confessions

#1 I'm a huge taboo/dark themed books lover

I never find them repulsive or offensive, I embrace diversity in a book so these kinds of books opened up my eyes to the real world and half of the time I would think, "Holy! Does this actually happen in real life?" I am open minded when it comes to reading.

#2 I have never listened to an audiobook

#3 Although I'm a huge soft for romance, I am easily annoyed with love triangles.

I guess the hype started with Twilight and I wasn't so opposed to this concept back then, but like an overplayed song on the radio, it gets really irritating when it starts appearing in most books I read.

When was the last time you cried reading a book?

When I was reading Waking Olivia by Elizabeth O'Roark. Stumbled across this book and I ended up crying like a baby and finished it in one night. What can I say? I'm a sucker for troubled hero/heroines.

How many books are on your bedside table?

I do not have a bedside table because I'm super clumsy and will end up breaking the stuff beside my bed, so my bed is situated right in the middle of the room clear of any obstructions. I do have my Kindle at arm's length, and there are hundreds of books in there, soo...does that account for something?

What is your favorite snack to eat while reading?

I don't really snack while I'm reading, mostly just drinking hot drinks like milk or tea, but my favorite snack has always been POPCORN - long live caramel!

Name three books you would recommend for others to read.

Write how much books mean to you in three words.

An adventurous escape.

What is your biggest reading secret?

I skim and scan a lot (a technique I perfected in school when we are asked to summarize a long essay) so I always have the habit of skipping through the description and straight into the character's conversation, which is not useful when the plot is supposed to be steamy and sexy and you totally missed that out because you were reading so fast, and have to backtrack and read it all over again. However, I do appreciate a vivid description of the book setting and also the emotions a character is going through, I tend to overlook hot and steamy scenes, though.

I'm also tagging  Great Day Personal Use Regular  in this post so feel free to do it for fun!

  1. Stickers on book covers should never happen. Seriously, what are bookstores thinking? Who wants a big, ugly sticker on their book? Anyway, I saved this post because this is a great tag. I’ll have to do it eventually.

  2. I hate stickers on book covers too! I always try my hardest to take the sticker off and then they end up partially staying on. It's horrible!
