LIAM O’SHEA, bestseller author of the SciFi saga, Eiloe.
All I knew was pain – a childhood filled with cruelty and villains who used and abused.
Until Éolie.
I first heard her sweet, angelical voice in the dark of night, when I lay bathed in my own impending death. Seventeen years later, it’s not the nightmare she pulled me out of that haunts me, but the glimpse of Happily Ever After she revealed just before disappearing.
They said she was a figment of my boundless imagination. A wish. A dream. Until I had no choice but to believe them, cherishing my imaginary savior the only way I knew how – in fiction and lore.
But fantasy has a way of transforming reality. When I finally tire of being a citizen of the world, I take an impromptu sabbatical as a professor at a small college on the coast of Maine. And there I see her, the girl with the sea-green eyes and angelic voice.
My world turns upside down. Turns out my girl is for real, and the pull between us is anything but imaginary.
Happily Ever After has a story … and this one is mine.
I voluntarily read and reviewed an ARC of the book provided by Xpresso Book Tours and the author. Thank you so much for the reviewing opportunity!
Happily Ever After has a story … and this one is mine.
How can you resist a book with the promise of a happy ending? One look at the cover and the blurb, I knew I have to dive into the romantic world of Liam and Eolie.
All I knew was pain – a childhood filled with cruelty and villains who used and abused.
Liam's childhood was rough, throughout his younger days he was tormented and abused by his parents. Just when he thought things couldn't get any better, hope came in the form of a sweet, angelic voice named Eolie. She was the one who gave him the strength to persevere through his darker days, but as he escaped from his hellhole and landed a spot in the psychiatric room, Eolie became just a figment of his imagination, a coping mechanism to deal with the stress, but he was never convinced of what he was told. Until 17 years later, when he heard her voice again after a long silence, and this time she was pleading for his help! 17 years ago, she pulled him through his weakest moments, now it's his time to save her back.
Liam and Eolie were the personifications of perfection. I'd normally go for darker romances but their story was adorably sweet and endearing that it became infectious. I just couldn't stop from swooning over them again and again. I loved how the author added a paranormal twist to the story when it comes to explaining Liam and Eolie's telepathic communication, but I'm not going to reveal too much because there's where the mystery lies.
Liam, himself, is a wonderful person. Unlike the typical male characters these days, he does not seek for a brief romance but a fulfilling relationship that goes deeper than one night stands. I liked how loyal and firm he was with his beliefs, especially when it comes to defending Eolie. On the other hand, Eolie is just a magnificent character that I would love to explore more, she has such gentleness and kindness in her that you'd want to protect, yet also a side that exhibits strength.
Overall, a great read to those who are looking for a curl-up-with romance with great depths and emotions. A beautiful debut novel by author Sylvie Parizeau!
A paralegal by day and incurable romantic by night, Sylvie is a cross-genre, and she takes Happily Ever After very seriously. The End just isn’t in her vocabulary.
An incorrigible daydreamer, she now feeds her obsession with epilogues by concocting stories in which heroes deal with the happy from the get-go. Ready, or not. And she confesses under oath to loving every minute of it.
Sylvie lives her own Happily Ever After in the beautiful mountains of Les Laurentides in Northern Quebec, alongside her whole set of characters.
In between treks in their backyard wilderness, you can find them hanging out at www.sylvieparizeau.com
