Tell Me Something Tuesday #9
Tell Me Something...
What is it about books that makes you want to blog about them? What is your favorite thing about blogging?
Truth to be told, I am a sucker for book covers.
When a book cover captivated me, I will be "drafting" the blog post even before I read them. In my head I will be thinking of the colors that I will use, the intonation of my posts and probably the pictures I could relate my posts to (which is kind of hard). Not taking into account the content of the story, I feel very driven and passionate to write a blog post for a book with an awesome cover. (All those talk about not judging a book by it's cover makes me sound like I'm bull-crapping ;p ). I know we shouldn't judge a book by it's cover, but books are sold because of their covers.
To not beat around the bushes. THE COVER makes me want to blog about them. (And of course, the amazing story behind the covers sealed the deal...)
I am a goth-at-heart, I will always orientate myself to dark colors even if I loved the bright colors. (Hence the mixture of dark background with bright wordings in my blog), therefore dark and gothic covers always seemed to attract my interest (no wonder my bookshelf looked so dark) and makes me excited to write a review!
This is a book cover that I cropped off a picture that I had made for my own story. Just to illustrate my taste in covers...
What's my favorite thing about blogging? Besides the opportunity to ramble and rant continuously on my favorite subject in a long blog post (thus perfecting my reviewing skills - New Year's Resolution Goal number 4 and practice my typing speed), I love receiving feedbacks! The comments and replies always made my day no matter how short or brief it is. They encouraged me to write better posts and taught me to put my heart into what I am writing. Apart from that, I really loved dropping by other people's blogs to read and comment on their posts because I know, like me, they would also appreciate my effort. Plus, blog hopping is FUN.
I know I have been missing a few TMST posts (which I am regretting because I love answering those questions!) and haven't gotten around to check your posts lately, but I am trying my best to include 'blogging' into my daily agenda, and also "GR-ing", gotta love that website! Looking forward to the following Tuesdays!
Happy Tuesday!
Please leave your link so I can drop by your blog :)

I love receiving comments as well. ;-) LOL And I agree that while we shouldn't judge a book by its cover, it is the cover that sells the book. Well, do me it's the book cover and back blurb. If either one is off, I put the book down.
ReplyDeleteHappy Tuesday!

I agree, gorgeous cover!
ReplyDeleteI am always drawn in by covers too, they are always the first thing I notice about a book!
Yay! Great to have you back on TMST!!! No worries about missing a few! Just participate when you can! Life is crazy!! lol.
ReplyDeleteI totally agree that a book cover is what sells a book and I can understand how looking at a cover can make you want to blog about a book. Sometimes i do the same thing. :) I love the cover that you displayed in your post - its gorgeous. The mist and the white coloring - it was very eery and mysterious. I think the goth style that you like translates well onto covers so I can totally understand why you like it so much.
You answer today was so creative!!! I never even thought about what great practice blogging is for typing speed!!! lol. I always try to improve my typing speed too! When I first started writing and blogging I would peck away with one or two fingers and now I am full out typing with both hands. LOL!! Woo hoo.
Blog hopping is fun and you are right, reading comments from others does make your day so much better!!!
Great reply and I hope you get the chance to participate next week for Book Boyfriends..... yummy!!! lol.
Happy Tuesday!
I have to agree with you, getting comments is so much fun and it helps keep you motivated too!
ReplyDeleteAs for the covers, I suffer from cover lust too and it appears that we mostly have similar taste.
Great post!
